Whats New?

Gorillaz Video Screening : Gathered in a small studio in London’s Soho, you have to wonder what could possibly be so impressive about the new Gorillaz video that Britain’s journalists have been shepherded together for a screening. New single “On Melancholy Hill”...

David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...
Lunar Youth : Interview : Lunar Youth make the kind of music that makes your heart skip a beat as the emphasis on romance engulfs you in a warm flurry of emotion. It’s really rather lovely. Their nostalgic take on pop, reminiscent of the 80’s penchant for...

Babeshadow : 'Sea Serpents/Heart'

Babeshadow : 'Sea Serpents/Heart'

Babeshadow

Released: Out Now!!!

Label:Luv Luv Records

Oozing with quirky charm, Babeshadow's latest efforts are a pure delight from start to finish. Packing a veritable feast of influences and flavours into the simplest of tracks, theirs is sound that infects the brain.

Billed on their myspace page as “Concrete / Glam / Idol”, they defy their tongue in cheek billing with considered tracks. “Sea Serpents” whispers with Californian nostalgia, a bright guitar melody complementing some well worn vocals, whilst injections of samba percussion and perfectly balanced harmonies expand the appeal still further. Combined with a gloriously catchy chorus, it is a winning formula.

“Heart” exhibits more sixties cool. Whilst not possessing the evident charm of it's sibling, it's slow rhythm and gradual accumulation is ample to maintain interest. Acoustic guitars and vocal harmonies provide the crux of the melody, with clean electro picking adding texture.

Simple charm is an endearing quality, and Babeshadow have it in bagfuls. With such gleeful melodies, it is very easy to get into. The only problem might be trying to stop listening to it.
