Defend Moscow : 'Die Tonight'

Defend Moscow : 'Die Tonight'

The days of playing the Playstation One classic Crash Bandicoot were brought fresh to my mind as I listened to the opening exchanges of Defend Moscow’s new single, entitled, ‘Die Tonight’.

The bands second effort, set to be released on 22nd June, is a well-crafted piece about sitting at the bedside of someone on life support. Although seemingly a depressing topic, the band have utilised their abilities to create a smooth, catchy track.

Human Leagues influence on the five-piece is once again made clear, as the song holds a distinct 80’s club feel reminiscent of that time. A lot darker than first single, ‘Manifesto’, the track is awash with distant, eerie synthesised sound.

The single is worth the money itself for ‘Die Tonight’, but the added inclusion of B-Side 'Sign of Life' makes it a must need purchase. In my eyes Defend Moscow have actually got it the wrong way round, as this track clearly surpasses the former. A dominant drum start, a wave of synthesised sound flows in like a high tide overwhelming a beach on a summer’s night.  The melodies are simply breathtaking, before dropping into reflective tones as the lead vocals begin.

Buy ‘Die Tonight’, but I guarantee it will be the B-Side that captures your imagination.

6/10
