Enter Shikari : 'No Sleep Tonight'

Enter Shikari : 'No Sleep Tonight'

Released: 17th August 2009

Label: Ambush Reality

I’ve always had a mild affection for the unique styling’s of Enter Shikari, yet even I myself had some trouble stomaching the punchy beats of previous single ‘Juggernauts’. It seems, however, that the rest of world had no trouble at all; Radio One A-listed, Top 30 single thus reminding me that I’m the kind of guy who reacts badly to change. So 'No Sleep Tonight' is perhaps the stepping stone I needed to understand those adjustments.

'No Sleep Tonight' (in comparison to 'Juggernauts') is the calmer but more intelligent single. Rou’s vocals range from gentle verses to ripsaw choruses, the guitars are aren’t so distorted but bass packs deep punches. Much like many of the tracks on their latest album Common Dreads, it’s the techno sounds that take the front seat but 'No Sleep Tonight' is the perfect balance of both post hardcore and trance in comparison to their earlier work that tended to see-saw the two.

Overall it’s a song that is easier to digest than other singles in the Enter Shikari back catalogue and that is something that is going to push Enter Shikari much further into the spotlight they deserve.
