Fake Problems : 'Diamond Rings'

Fake Problems : 'Diamond Rings'

Released: Out Now!!!

Label: SideOneDummy

“Diamond Rings”, the latest single taken from Fake Problems' second studio album is a stomping indie affair, sure to please many fans with it's catchy tune and varying influences. Filled with unmissable hooks, and impressive vocals, there really is very little to dislike.

What some bands often neglect in a track is solid instrumentation, certainly not the with Fake Problems. Opening with a pulsing bassline and crisp, clean guitars the track is instantly brought to life, an irresistible riff completing the ensemble. Whilst remaining solely an indie affair, the band also manage to inject alien influences without distracting from it's original purpose. The presence of a flute in the latter stages, as well as a stripped down, more basic sound do nothing to change the tone, only showcasing the talent at the band's disposal.

To top it all off Chris Farren steals the show with an adept vocal performance. With his gritty, soulful tone Farren blends amongst the smooth instrumentation perfectly, accentuating it's intricacies without going over the top.

Second track “Heartless” features yet more clean guitars entwined in a ballad – like melody, whilst Farren again provides the focal point. Despite being entirely different from the first, it manages to exhibit further the talents of the band, as well as it's versatility.
