Whats New?

Gorillaz Video Screening : Gathered in a small studio in London’s Soho, you have to wonder what could possibly be so impressive about the new Gorillaz video that Britain’s journalists have been shepherded together for a screening. New single “On Melancholy Hill”...

David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...

Flamboyant Bella : ‘Get a Reaction’

Flamboyant Bella : ‘Get a Reaction’

Released: Out Now!!

Label: Unsigned

Flamboyant Bella have been on my radar for just over two years now and this, I was not expecting. The indie pop quartet from Hitchin is made up of brothers Mitch and Elliot Rose, along with vox duo Flo Kirton and James McBreen – a combination that has worked for a little over three years.

Now, introduce the electro elements that have been implemented on latest offering ‘Get a Reaction’, and you have an even stronger winning formula. There’s “razzle dazzle”, “okey cokey”, and “perpetual energy” written all over this song, literally.

Flo’s ditched the dark grunge hair in favour of a blonde bombshell and their MySpace page is now littered with playful balloons. It seems that the commercial factors are creeping in.

But, it doesn’t take anything away from this dancing, driving ditty of a track. There’s twirling twinkles that drop like stardust throughout as Flo’s vocals crawl and soar and sneak all over the place - this girl has a huge Alp-like range. And then James’ gruff gyrates all over to contrast.

Flamboyant Bella are even asking their fans to remix the song for them and having a video complete with a leotard, disco balls and pearls, just cries out to grab new fans’ attentions.

Anyway “this infectious rhythm is taking over” and I’m off to dance...
