Kings Of Leon: Use Somebody

Kings of Leon: Use Somebody

In keeping with much of their recent album, KOL’s latest single offering delivers moody angst in abundance.

Caleb Followill’s mournful voice glides over the simple yet highly effective melody, reaching his usual effortless heights. The slow yet deliberate build up to the anthem - like chorus is nothing short of masterful, developing keen anticipation delivered through a flurry of vocal harmonies and crashing cymbals.

The fact that only a few lyrics are repeated several times throughout the song bears no relevance, as the song moves, evolves and almost breathes into new leases of life during its three minutes, fifty two seconds. It is this layering and evolution throughout the song that makes it so huge in stature, and demonstrates the new levels of maturity and mastery Kings Of Leon have reached.

Words: Dan Grose
