New Education : 'Another Miracle'

New Education : 'Another Miracle'

Released: 13th July 09

Label: KIDS Records

This quartet from my University town – Stoke-on-Trent – is to be marvelled at, even if it’s for the pure fact that they’ve come a long way in such a short space of time. From stints and small gigs at the locals (The Sugarmill, and The Underground) to supporting the likes of The Holloways, Peter Doherty and, most recently, The Rifles.

‘Another Miracle’ is just another piece of gritty evidence to support these facts (how very CSI of me). With an intro that accelerates into your personal sound system, you know you’re going to have a proper ear soaking when the allegro drums kick in and Ryan Dooley’s everyman voice tailors in like a finely sewn seam.

Balanced by legato guitars to give an anthemic, rich battleground of sound, ‘Another Miracle’ pulls in at every Brit-Pop/Rock stop. Verve producer, Chris Potter has worked on this track, as well as mixing from Rich Costey (Franz Ferdinand, Muse).

This is music for the everyday kids – you know; the ones who just want to get out of the grind. This is their escape, as well as being the salvation for the brothers Dooley (Ryan and Jack), guitarist David Cartwright, and drummer John Bradbury.

Ultimately, it’s a great, solid single.
