The Gaslight Anthem : 'Backseat'

The Gaslight Anthem : 'Backseat'

Released: Out Now!!!

Label: Side One Dummy

It’s been a year of non-stop admiration for The Gaslight Anthem. Following the release of ‘The 59 sound’, critic’s praise and an outpour of attention has seen the band soar over the last 12 months and latest single ‘The Backseat’  perfectly wraps up this eventful year.

It’s a song that in just over four minutes manages to encapsulate everything we love about the New Jersey Indie Punk poets, Brian Fallon’s echoing vocals ring around your ears and his story-telling lyrics paint a picture like no other song writer in the genre.

‘The Backseat’s' overall sound is a clean American punk tune, a little reminiscent of the earlier works of the Killers but without all the complex and almost unnecessary electronic sounds. It doesn’t really sound much different from the rest of the bands back catalogue but when it’s this good, why should it?

If you haven’t already picked up the album The 59 Sound’ then you should know this is the single that closes a terrific album and today, the single closes off a highly successful 12 months for a band that have more than proven themselves as  modern poets of American rock.
