The Temper Trap : 'Fader'

Released: Out Now!!!
Label: Infectious Records
The potential for mainstream success Sweet Disposition offered to The Temper Trap was monumental. Their inoffensive brand of indie-pop, which has all the infectiousness of MGMT, the popular stadium guitar riffs of U2 and that weird cosmic sound which no-one seems to hate but is toe-curlingly frustrating, was their propeller to big fan following.
Fader, their third single from album Conditions, is a step in the other direction. They ditch atmospheric for another populist sound – the indie ‘whoop’. Irritating when a recognised band does it, but on this, it is nauseatingly contrived. Pedestrian guitars, vocals and nonsensical lyrics – a summation in six words.
